Briefly explain the relationship between religion/ritual and puppets??? Well puppets are used as a form of interpreting especially things that people can't comprehend or do, and religion fits right into that category.
I agree with that. Also it makes it easy to reenact the events of stories from the religion and ritual. Also there is a draw with puppets so that would make the reenactment more enjoyable to watch.
I also found it funny how in the book the catholic church dispised puppets, but once they started making them about the bible the loved and encouraged them.
Sorry I didn't get my post up, I ran into a situation. No toes have been stepped Logan, I promise it won't happen again. Anyway, I agree with you guys. Using a puppet Jesus would be much less expensive then using a live actor. Besides, a puppet Jesus can rise up to the heavens! Now tell me a 15th Century actor who could do that! I also believe a puppet show to convey any religious message would be very important since it can travel much better than an actor troop. That way, people who were obsessed with converting others could get the message of of their religion out easier and faster.
One of the Ritual's that I thought was kind of interesting was the Chinese ritual where they would make a moveable figurine that was suppose to travel alongside the spirit of the deceased to help them in the afterlife.

ReplyDeleteAlso, I think the idea of the moving/bleeding Jesus puppet is quite possibly one of the most frightening things I've ever heard of.
